We got to the lake & settled in; I had to bring my pig all dolled up for Memorial. We kept it on the table in the camper. A little "home" away from home.
Once we got there I napped with Ave a bit & then we went on our first nightly walk to see the deer & all of the campers!
Each morning Chad's Mom made us breakfast. We enjoyed our first morning on Saturday with a huge breakfast of bacon, sausage & pancakes! The girls played in their jammies while we all hung out, played a little ball & relaxed.
By noon the girls were ready to swim. They played in the water most of the afternoons while we pushed our chairs into the sun & watched them hoping to soak up a few rays.
After several hours of playing, it was nap time!
Saturday evening was a huge cookout. My parents came out to the lake along with my other sister in law & her family. There were about 20 of us at the cookout that night. We had all kinds of goodies to eat & finished the evening with some of my favorite Moscoto wine as the sun went down. Perfect day.
Sunday brought another wagon ride in the morning with the girls, lots of chalk playing, swimming, fishing, & laughing!
Our cousins Jarod & Gretchen & their kids came out for the big annual Fish Fry at Chad's Uncles campsite Saturday evening. We all spend most of the afternoon in the sun & watching the kids fish. Our lake water is so dirty so we really didn't want to get in it. We have had so much rain & flooding.
We stuffed our bellies with lots of hush puppies, fish, coleslaw, fries, etc that evening!
And finally after the sun went down, it was SMORE time. My favorite when we camp. I have so many memories of making these when we were little kids. I always catch the marshmellow on fire- yup, did it again this year too, and ate it!
Monday we all packed up & decided to head out at a decent time so we could enjoy the rest of Memorial Day.

We spend a few hours in the afternoon together on Memorial Day & then we headed to my parents for a small BBQ of hot dogs!
Avery is getting more silly by the day. She just cracks us up!
We enjoyed a few hours with my parents on the lake & then headed home early for bedtime after a busy weekend. I was ready for my bed!

I am so thankful during times like these to stil have a home, family & friends that I adore so much. My family, (both sides), are my best friends. I love that we are close & able to build these memories together. Now that we are all having babies & expanding our families, we are also starting to prepare the way for our kids generation, and I love that!
